Delivering Divinity is a working title for a fantasy fiction novel about a nearly extinct god that finds a way to go back in time in order to provide his former self knowledge that will prevent his capture and resulting extinction. In his quest back to the old world of Auzen, he spirits away three thieves that may or may not help him reach his goal.
I’m not setting hard goals for this particular novel–the world-building is extensive and I feel that I may need a significant period of time to develop the land, the pantheon, the cultures and the people.
As you can see from my WIP count I’ve written a lot on this book, so at the very least, I know my six main characters pretty well. But I’ve been digging through it and realized that my plot holes have a lot to do with my world-building (it’s only partially complete and I need the entire world for me to do the story well) so I am probably going to scrap most of that work and re-write. I also realized that this is a BIG story. More than a one book story so I need to work that out. Debut writers with a trilogy in their hands make agents and editors nervous so I have to make sure I do this one very damn well.
So for this novel, I’ll work purely on incremental goals. Since I’ll be working hard on Cena Apicius, I’m not as worried about meeting these goals overall but I want to have something specific to work toward.
Before the end of summer 2007:
- Finish developing the culture and language of the city of Caerdnal
- Determine what other races need languages and begin the process of building out those languages (early approximation is 4-5 others)
