NANO Weekend Writing

Posted by: Crystal King on: November 3, 2007

On the first night of NANOWRIMO I managed a stunning 1,319 words (stunning because I managed that much. I had great intentions to do more but well, Superman was on…). Yesterday I went to a really wonderful Grub Street fundraiser and got nada done on the wordcount but I met many writers, authors and readers which made up for my lack of having my rear in the chair.

Today, however, the remnants of Hurricane Noel, now a tropical storm, is coming at us in the shape of the season’s first N’orEaster, so going outside really isn’t much of an option. The Cape will be receiving the blunt of it all but we’ll have strong winds and about an inch of rain.nxrd_ct_.png
Today’s wordcount goal is 4,000, potentially 5,000 if I manage to be extra ambitious. Tomorrow I have the same goal. I want to work very hard to get ahead since I’ll be in NY for a conference during the week of the 13th and I don’t think I’ll get much done as I’m seeing friends every night while I’m there. Then, over Thanksgiving, we’re going to a family reunion and Joe’s high school reunion. There will be relatives and activities that will directly distract me from writing.

BUT I decided to combat that I would take off M-W before Thanksgiving, just to write. It feels sort of strange and self-indulgent to take off time to write but that’s the plan. I am determined to push this book forward by another 50,000 words, come hell or high water.

I’ll update my blog later with the progress!
