Win a Spot in Holly Lisle’s First Writing Teleconference

Posted by: Crystal King on: October 27, 2007

I’ve been a huge Holly Lisle fan for a long while now, not just because she writes great, engaging fiction, but because she’s also been an invaluable resource for me as a writer. Holly is someone who doesn’t just pop out a novel every few years–she is a career writer, writing every day, publishing on a regular basis and as a result, she has some excellent, deep, down-in-the-trenches advice that she shares with writers through her website as well as a series of ebooks on craft

which I really recommend, especially if you are writing any sort of alternate world story. My personal favorite is the Language Clinic, in which she walks you through the steps to create a language from scratch. Serious fun, but WOW I was not prepared for how much language shapes a world. It made me realize that I need to completely rewrite Delivering Divinity in order to truly tell the story as it should be told. I have all her Writing Clinic ebooks and I just can’t say enough about them. I realize I’m gushing a bit, but in preparation for a book on creative writing exercises that I researched as part of my M.A. in Critical & Creative Thinking, I amassed a monster library on writing books and trust me, you just won’t find this sort of hands on advice on your store’s bookshelf.

At any rate, Holly is offering up the chance to be one of 20 people handselected to be guinea pigs for her first “How to Write a Novel” seminar. She’s written dozens upon dozens of novels, so she definitely knows her stuff. To apply to be one of the 20 lucky people who get a chance to attend a free seminar from Holly, just send your mouse in the direction of this link to fill out the application:

Good luck! Hurry and apply…she’s closing the application on Nov. 1!

You can also subscribe to Holly’s email newsletter for other writing tips, updates and information.

I’ll stop gushing now but just know that I wouldn’t go through all the trouble if I didn’t really believe in how much her advice can help writers, new or in progress. And with NANOWRIMO just a few days a way, any extra help a writer can get is a good thing, IMHO!
